| How are you getting the goods
into the container? The container will be
delivered on a truck chassis which is designed for dock level
loading. If you do not have dock level loading you will have
to consider how you will load the goods into the container.
The container will be left for 2 hours with no additional
charges. Loading time above this will result in additional
waiting and needs to be arranged at the time of booking. To get you a price we need the following information: 1/ Place of pick up 2/ Place of delivery—your goods can either be delivered to a specific address (not available in all countries) or a terminal port at destination from where you can arrange your own delivery 3/ Type of goods Your price will include transportation and Canadian documentation charges only. We do not provide customs clearance at destination. We will advise you of pre-shipment inspections or special certificates or legalization that may be required and the associated costs for these. However, ensuring you meet entry requirements is your responsibility. Your buyer will have to arrange clearance with the foreign customs authorities at destination or hire a destination broker to do this. We do not provide packaging. Your goods should be packaged with the voyage in mind. The container will be picked up by large cranes and placed on the vessel which can cause load shifting. The container will be crossing an ocean during which weather can cause the container to move and the goods to shift. When packaging, please keep in mind that most countries have wood restrictions against wood exported from Canada. Therefore any crates, skids, pallets, dunnage etc must either be ISPM 15 compliant and so marked or you should use processed materials such as particle board, plywood or OSB in order to comply with wood entry requirements of the foreign country. We do provide marine insurance. You can insure for total loss or all risks, which includes damage. The cost for total loss insurance is 0.20/$100 value. The cost for all risks is 0.30/$100 value. If your goods are refrigerated then the cost for all risks with a 24 hour breakdown clause is 0.30/$100 value. If you wish all risks with no breakdown clause the cost is 0.65/$100 value. You must insure for 110% of the value of the goods plus the freight. At the time of booking we will require the following information from you: 1/ Date for pick up or drop off 2/ A completed authorization form to act on your behalf. A blank form will be provided by Alliance. 3/ If the value of the shipment is in excess of CAD2000, you must also complete another form. Again, Alliance will provide the blank. We must apply for an authorization ID number for you from Canadian Border Services as an Export Declaration. The authorization ID# is needed so that an automated Export Declaration can be sent to CBSA and Statscan. The Export Declaration must be completed no less than 48 hours prior to loading for export. Failure to file in this time frame can result in the shipment being held by the carrier at which point storage/detention charges will apply and/or you will receive an AMPS (Administrative Monetary Penalty) fine from CBSA. It can take up to 48 hours to obtain this number from CBSA. Please ensure that you are registered for Export with the Canadian government. Our form will explain this further. We will provide you: 1/ Confirmation of price 2/ Booking number from shipping line (if you are arranging your own trucking this is the number that the trucker will need to pick up the empty container) 3/ Shipment details-vessel name, sailing dates, ETAs (note an ETA is just that-an ESTIMATED time of arrival. There is no guarantee of arrival time as many factors can affect this including weather, congestion, customs, etc) 4/ Documentation Cut Off Date By the documentation cut-off date you must provide to us: 1/ Your name and full address and contact information in Canada for the BL 2/ Name and full address and contact information (must include a telephone number) at destination. 3/ A commercial invoice and packing list of what you are shipping. |
